HLA Loss of Heterozygosity: A Driver of Leukemia Relapse
Disease relapse is a common outcome following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant in leukemia patients. Dr. Jennifer Schiller will review the currently understood mechanisms of immune escape which lead to post-transplant disease relapse, and focus on the biology behind the HLA loss of heterozygosity (LOH) phenomenon. A novel testing approach for HLA LOH will be presented in the context of a recent case study, along with the patient care implications that the results suggest.
